Since 2012, Fionn O' Callaghan (11) has been pushing for the issue of smoking in cars to be banned. Following on from his granny's death, Fionn, then 8 years of age, wrote to the Taoiseach and yesterday his persistence paid off with the ban coming into effect from 1st January 2016. Smoking is a major health hazard and Fionn considered the future of all children, particularly those without a voice, with his campaign on government to change the law. Read more below.

For many years, I have discussed the role of fat/lipids in our diet with my Home Economics classes, particularly raising 'new' information that can seem confusing in the nutritional domain about this macro-nutrient. As a firm believer of the "everything fresh, local and in moderation" approach, I know that many of the 'untruths/ myths' revealed regarding fat/lipids require addressing correctly by dieticians and those in the know.
